Some Cave's Branch employees built these railings for when it rained and things were muddy, but they were pretty helpful even when it was dry :P

This is a long shot across the cavern, you can see the place we repelled from by the reddish dirt on the rocks.

In the background you can see the other side of the cavern where people are already repelling.

This is the highest point above the cavern, the last people of the previous group are preparing to repel.
Stacy is over the edge!
13 Mar 2010 - 13:48

Considering Stacy's fear of heights, I was extremely surprised by how quickly and easily she went over the edge, but I think the reality of it began to hit home soon after :P
Don't look down? Ha!

Who wouldn't want to look down!
Stacy finially looks down!

After telling me "No!" and "Shut up!" several times, Stacy finally looked down
She's starting to get the hang of this!

Hiking inside the cavern
13 Mar 2010 - 14:08

This had been one huge cave, but some time a few million years ago a massive section of roof caved in, that is what we were repelling into. The area that caved in was so large that there is a small jungle down there!
Climbing to the lunch spot
13 Mar 2010 - 14:11

We climbed a bit to get to our lunch spot just inside the cavern.
The way in
13 Mar 2010 - 14:53

This path below us lead into one of the deepest cave systems in Belize. Cave's Branch does a "Honey Moon" trip where you repel down and hike to this path like we did, but then they guides leave you, and you hike 2km into the cave till you find candles by a underground lake. There is a tent, champagne, food, everything for you to spend the night, just the two of you. Sadly we only got to eat lunch by the entrance.
The Pool Bar!
