A rainy start to the day.

A rainy cold start to the day after a long early morning drive to get there. Mary worked night shift right before this!

We gained 2,500' of elevation in the morning, working our way up to Colchuck Lake

FLAT!

After slogging up 4,000' of elevation gain in the morning, the relative flatness of The Enchantments was incredibly welcome.

We finally stopped for our second snack break of the day. We we're so cold and wet that stopping was problematic. Adam's rain layer had soaked through, and the weather was alternating rain and sleet.

Making good time, about to exit the core zone and head down into the snow zone. We're about 2/3 of the way through.

4 PM

Here we met a lost hiker with no food or water, looking for his friends who had apparently left him. We took him in and helped him out of the core zone and eventually found his founds.

It is used for irrigation, so late in the summer they start letting it out and it gets very low.

Snow Lake is used for irrigation, so late in the summer they start letting it out, this is the raging flow.

10 PM

Not many photos as we descended out of the Enchantments. It got dark, but at least stayed dry. We made the cars around 10pm.
